About the walk
Initially taking the Southern Upland Way out of Galashiels and over the hill to the historic Yair Bridge, the route then follows the banks of the River Tweed to its confluence with the Ettrick Water, passing Boleside (famous for its salmon fishing) and Abbotsford. Skirting Tweedbank and Darnick, the route rejoins the SUW riverside path to return to Melrose.
