Distance: 28km/17 miles linear
Start: Market Place, Melrose, 09.00
Finish: Traquair village, 17.00 approx. Bus pick up from Traquair at 17.30.
Grade: Very strenuous. Packed lunch required. An average speed of over 3kph/2mph is needed and this walk is limited to a maximum of 25 people.

About the walk
This is a long day’s walk on the Southern Upland Way, leaving Melrose along the banks of the Tweed towards Abbotsford and Galashiels to Yair Bridge. From there the track climbs gradually up to the Three Brethren Cairns, giving a panoramic view of the Border Country and ancient towers and then on past the Cheese Well and Wallace’s Trench before descending to the village of Traquair.
