About the walk
The walk follows part of the former Waverley Line, now the A6091 by-pass, towards the historic village of Darnick then, by way of the Lye Road westwards, passing the site of the ‘Turnabout Stane’ to reach Abbotsford House, former home of Sir Walter Scott. From there, the route follows the Tweed downstream past Tweedbank and Lowood House to join the Southern Upland Way at the Bottle Brig, before returning to the Market Place.
