About the walk
This challenging walk follows the skyline to the north and south of Melrose. The River Tweed is crossed to Gattonside then part of the Southern Upland Way is taken before an eastward route to the south of Earlston. The Black Hill is climbed and the Tweed is re-crossed at Leaderfoot. A traverse of the Eildon Hills finishes with a return to Melrose via Darnick. This is a big route with many good views and the chance to climb the Eildon Hills, Gattonside Heights and Black Hill in a single outing.
