Three tries from Alex Davis helped Christchurch into the Melrose Sevens final, and an all Southern Hemisphere clash with Nawaka.

Christchurch killed off the tie in the opening half with four tries. Alex Davis went over twice at the beginning and end of the half, and Darryl Cochrane and Hemi Taukiri also scored for the New Zealanders. Jed Fraser added three conversion to put his side in a comfortable position at the break.

West hit back early in the second half, with a try from Andrew Henderson, however Christchurch responded with a try from Simon Murdoch.

Davis added his third try of the tie, diving in at the corner, but the New Zealanders failed to convert.
