Melrose Rugby Football Club
The first all-Edinburgh clash of the tournament saw Watsonians overcome their capital rivals Heriots to become the first team into the quarter-finals.
In a hard-hitting tie, Watsonians kept possession well denying, Heriots the opportunity to use their quick back-division.
After a long-period of early pressure, Watsonians opened the scoring with a try from Marcus Di Rollo, which he also converted. Heriots fought back and reduced the deficit to two points at the interval with a try from Gregor Lawson.
After a superb break by Scott Hastings, Watsonians extended their lead with a try from Nick Penny. A second try by Di Rollo, which he also converted, put Watsonians into a strong position.
