Melrose Rugby Football Club
Hawick had to recover from an early scare to secure a place in the second round of the Sevens where they will face hosts Melrose.
Currie led 10-5 at the interval through two tries from Mike Duncan, with Hawick responding with a touchdown by Alan Gray. Hawick went ahead for the first time in the tie, in the opening minute of the second half with Keith Davidson breaking away from half-way to score and convert.
Davidson scored again, and converted to stretch Hawick’s lead before Morris Dillon added a fourth try for the Greens, which Davidson again converted. A second Dillon try ensured Hawick of victory.
